Elite classes H21E and D21E, World Cup try out

There will be three World Cup try out races for the series H21E and D21E (middle distance on Sunday 10th, long distance on Monday 11th and sprint on Wednesday 13th). For the series H21E a maximum of 60 competitors and for D21E a maximum of 50 competitors will be chosen. In addition to the WC-group, those competitors who are among the best 45 (H21) and the best 35 (D21) in the www-ranking on 30th June 2005 will qualified for the races. The Finnish Orienteering Federation reserves the right to admit additional Finnish and foreign competitors to these series according to the www-ranking standings on 30th June 2005. Both series have hot groups, to which 15 of the best Finnish orienteering competitors are drawn according to their www-ranking standings on 30th June 2005. The hot groups are drawn to the end of the series.

Elite classes the youngsters

For the series H20E, H18E and H16E there are a maximum of 40 competitors chosen per series and for the series D20E, D18E and D16E a maximum of 30 competitors/series. The choices are made based on to the www-ranking standings on 30th June 2005 and regarding foreign competitors based on international placements in competitions.

The starting order for the 5th competition leg is defined according to the results in the four previous races and the race is run as a pursuit.

Fitness orienteering

There are four different courses of varying lengths and standards open every day at the following times:

The start gate is near the competition centre and there are signs from the crossroads of roads 43 and 2054 and the crossroads of roads 204 and 2054. The start gate must be passed by 12.45. The race material is given out at the start. The competition area is banned from training until 13th July 2005. The restricted area. Entry fee is 15€.

Classes and distances

The classes and approximate distances of the competition are presented in the enclosed table chart. The starts and distances to the starting areas are also presented. The starting threshold is in use for the qualifying series of the middle distance race and the sprint.

Fin5 Centre

The Fin5 Centre is situated at Eura Educational centre and its surroundings. The centre has an info desk, press office, scoreboard, cafeteria and accommodation at the school. Caravan and parking places are nearby at the parking area of the Eura sports hall and the camping ground is at Eura sport centre. The Fin5 Centre is opened on Friday 8th July at 12.00.

Guidance and road signs

The main road signs for the Fin5 Centre and the competition centres are at the crossraoads of highways 12 and 43 in Eura. The signs are in place starting on the 8th July at 12.00.
1st and 2nd competition events will be held in Raasi, Yläne, 52 km from the Fin5 Centre. Guidance on road 204 and Raasi-road on 10th July from 8.00 a.m. The crossroad for Raasi-road is 12 km from the center of Yläne towards the city of Turku. Driving time to the competition centre is approx. 20 minutes.
3rd and 4th competition events will be held at Sydänmaa, Eurajoki, which is 21 km from the Fin5 Centre. Guidance from the crossing of highway 43 and road 2174 (driving time 25 min) and the crossing of highway 8 and road 2170 in Eurajoki (driving time from 15 min). The signs are in place on the 12th and 14th starting from 7.00am.
5th competition event at Uotinmäki, Nakkila, 30 km from Fin5 Centre. Guidance from the crossing of highway 43 and Laihia-road (20min), crossing of highways 2 and 43 in Harjavalta (15min) and highway 2 and road 2170 in Nakkila (15min). The signs are in place on 15th July from 7.00am.

Masters League sprint at Kauttua Ruukinpuisto Park, Eura

Guidance from the crossing of roads 204 and 2054 Kauttua and the crossing of highway 43 and road 204. Driving time to the competition centre is approximately 5 minutes. The signs are in place on 13th July from 11.00am.

Transport to the competition centres and parking

Bus transport is available from the Fin5 Centre to the competition centres every 30 minutes. Fees: adults 20€/week or 5€/day and children (H/D 16 and younger) 10€/week or 3€/day. Car park is situated at the competition centre. Walking distances are about 400 m (1. and 2. event), 1000 m (3. and 4. event and 200 m (5.event. Parking fees are 20€/week or 5€/day for cars and 40€/week or 10€/day for buses and caravans. Parking tickets can be bought in advance from the info.

Maps

The competition maps are 6-colour orienteering maps with a scale of 1:10 000 and contour intervals of 2,5m or 5m. The exceptions are the first two events for H/D21E series, where the scale is 1:15 000 and the interval is 5m. The maps are printed on weather proof material and they come without plastic covering. The size of the maps varies from A5 to A3 and the printing year is 2005. More information of the training maps and the terrain available on www.hiisirasti.fi/fin5. The terrain for the 1st and 2nd competition events is banned from training until 10th July 2005. The restricted areas.

Emit

Emit control card system is used in the competitions. The organizer will reserve a rental card for those who have not informed their Emit number. The fee is 3€/ day or 10€/week and it must be paid at the competition centre when claiming the card. The fee to change your Emit-card number is 2€.

Prizes

Valuable product prizes are given out in all competition series according to the overall results during the Fin5 orienteering week. The winners of the first four competition races in all series are also awarded with a prize. In the Masters League sprint on the 13th July the three best competitors for both series (H21E and D21E) awarded. At the finish of the last competition event all competitors will be given a Fin5 medal. Among the fitness orienteering participants one prize per day is drawn out.

Childcare

Childcare is available for children (6-months and up) near the competition centres. The childcare services include a small snack and supervised activities and costs 3€/day. Advance admissions through the Fin5 –homepage by 27th June. Registration form of childcare.

Services at the competition centre

At the competition centres there are small shops, product presentations etc. The cafeterias have a wide range of meals and snacks on offer.

Showers and toilets

It is possible to have a shower and change clothes at the competition centres. The facilities are partially roofed and have warm water showers. Toilet facilities are at the competition centres and near the start signs.

For the fitness series there is no advance admission, the enrolments can be made at the competition centre info.

The 1st and 2nd competition races will be held in a military training area. Therefore all participants who are not Finnish citizens must fill in the personal information form on the Fin5 –web page. This applies not only to the competitors but also the press, coaches and friends and family members who will be present at the competition. Personal information form.

Entry Fees

The entry fees are as follows according to the payment date:
Reduced fee for early admissions, paid by 28th February 2005: Elite series 65€/week or 14€/day, H/D9-16 25€/week or 6€/day, other series 55€/week or 12€/day.
Normal rates, paid by 20th June 2005: Elite series 70€/week or 15€/day, H/D9-16 30€/week or 7€/day, other series 60€/week or 13€/day.
Late entries, paid by 27th June 2005: Elite series 140€/week or 30€/day, H/D9-16 60€/week or 14€/day, other series 120€/week or 26€/day.

Accommodation

Accommodation on the floor with own mattress at the Fin5 Centre costs 40€/week or 10€/day, including breakfast. Tent place at the sports centre camping ground is 40€/week. Place for caravans on the parking lot of Eura sports including electricity costs 60€/week or 12€/day. Payments for accommodations should be made to the Fin5 centre info.
