    Terrain

Statement of terrains from competitions in Raasi

Terrain in Raasi is open bare rock (grey on map), where different sized mosses are lying between these bare rock areas. Bare rock areas are not usual Finnish flat and fast bare rock. Terrain is pretty exhausting because of constant small up- and downhills, although there are not big height differences.

Visibility is varying pretty much. Bare rocks are dominant in most parts and there visibility is good. At the end of the courses the map is pretty green and that’s why shortest course orienteerers doesn’t have as much the finest terrain as longest courses has. But course setter has done some forest harvesting to enhance runability on some running paths. Children courses use terrain of good runability.

Mosses on this area are tough because of long undervegetation. Because of some new forest harvest cuttings there are some forest tractor tracks which are not in the map. Terrain surface is not rocky.
