Terrain specification in Sydänmaa

Third and fourth competition will be running in Sydänmaa varying terrain. Terrain consists of four separate hill areas and it will give great challenges for competitors. Few forest roads divide this area and the longest courses of the fourth day will cross the river Juvanjoki.

Variation between different areas is giving its own expression for the terrain. Dense grown sides of the hills give challenges for orienteering technique but many more open areas give chances to keep up good speed. Especially longest courses of the fourth day may enjoy about extremely fast runability open rocks part.

It is very important to check codes on controls because there are many controls near each other and still some of them in similar places. Mapping of the terrain is clear, only mapping of the rocks is partly unclear. In these competitions are those old wise words needed: Calmness and accuracy in orienteering is needed and the fastest competitor is the winner.
